The Upper Elementary students went on their annual overnight to White Memorial. Mr. Greenwood led a discussion about plant classification as well as tree identification. The weather cooperated and the night was clear so students were able to look at constellations and find the North Star. While on the overlook at Bantam Lake, a pumpkin moon slowly rose, lighting the way back to the carriage house, where we spent the night. Alyssa Monteleone (Banks) came to cook with the students, a delicious meal of hummus and veggies, kebabs and apple crisp. Heather Ford kindly came and taught challenging cooperative games and Deb Martin played with the students the game of SPUD during PE class. The students made beautiful leaf bowls out of clay with Tina, during Art class, using leaves that were collected while on our walks. Children and faculty went home tired, but more closely knit after spending two days together.
