7th Year Students Place 2nd in Statewide Literary Competition

In an outstanding display of literary brilliance, our 7th year student team won second place in the three-hour-long, statewide Kids Literature Competition Friday night at Connecticut Central State University. The all-star team, CJ Silverman, Jenna Sittler, Jacy Case and Lydia DiIulio, were just two points away from winning first place and a trip to South Africa. It was a very exciting competition and lots of fun! They were competing against teams from the biggest and best public schools in the state.

Our Lower and Upper Elementary programs have always focused on Literature. Elaine Allessio, has especially fostered reading and literature and its relationship to history. Our students are used to amazing book discussions on a wide variety of books and it’s no surprise that our middle school, so small in number, would perform so well against much larger schools. Our students possess a sound philosophical background of a Montessori education and have such learned and talented Directresses, not to mention that the parents and students are deeply committed to learning.
