Millstream Farm Camp just finished two sucessful week-long sessions. The sun was blaring and the mosquitos were relentless, but that did not deter the children's excitement to learn through nature-based literature and hands-on activities. They began their mornings with typical barn chores such as feeding the chickens, cleaning the barn and even milking the goats. They worked in the garden planting seeds, weeding and mulching. Children used materials from the local environment for handcrafting projects such as soap stone carvings, felting with sheep's wool, weaving with natural fibers and making candles with beeswax. They enjoyed natual hikes by the river and other local hiking spots. After a hard day's work, they beat the heat with dip in the pond!
