January 30, 2014 (All day)
On Thursday January 30th, YPC celebrated the Chinese New Year. The day was full of fun and symbolism. The children wore red to symbolize good luck and happiness. The class dusted and swept away last years negativity and readied the environment to welcome good luck in New Year. Snacks of oranges and clementines which symbolize money and good luck were eaten. The students prepared a special soup to bring good health. They chopped carrots and celery and added them to long noodles which symbolize long life. Red and gold lanterns and fire breathing dragons were two of the crafts made. For the finale the students paraded through the building with their dragons, lanterns and sleigh bells.
