Christopher Ford, President
Current parent Chris Ford became board chair just in time for the 2015-2016 school year. His two children, Hadley (6) and Christopher (4), have attended LMS since they were toddlers. An educator, Chris is Director of the Ingenuity Program at the Forman School, where he is also a senior staff member and coaches alpine skiing. Before moving to Litchfield in 2004, Chris taught ecology at Gore Range Natural Science School in Red Cliff, Colorado, and before that biology, physics and chemistry at a charter school in Boulder. His wife, Heather, has been the head of the Parents Association at LMS since 2014.
Greg Miller has been on the board for 20 years. His son, Tyler, attended LMS from the age of two through sixth grade, and recently graduated from Georgetown University. Greg has served two terms as board chair, with his most recent term ending in 2015. He was responsible for hiring our current Head of School, Cara Johnson. Greg owns a very successful local business with 47 employees and brings his strong management skills and keen focus on the bottom line to the table. He lives in Morris with his wife, Julie.
Chuck Conn has been on the board for just over a decade, during which time he has served as the board’s chair, treasurer and secretary. His relationship with LMS began when the school’s founder (and fellow Rotarian) Mary Loyer approached him back in 2005. Chuck’s corporate experience in information technology and finance has been a boon to the board, as has his property management experience gleaned from operating an equestrian facility in Morris. A physical neighbor to LMS, Chuck and his partner, Carole St. Mark, have lived in Northfield since 2001.
Shelia Caselas, Treasurer
Sheila Caselas lives in Northfield. Her son, Anthony, attended LMS in the mid-2000s. Sheila is the director of finance and operations at The Montessori School of Greater Hartford, a position she has held for ten years. Her business acumen has been put to good use on the LMS board, where she has served as treasurer since 2011.
Litchfield resident Chip Spencer has served two terms on the board, the first from 1990 to 1996 when his daughter, Jane, was a student at LMS, and again from 2011 to the present. He has previously served as treasurer of the board, and has spearheaded the school’s biggest fundraising event for the past three years. Chip’s background as a teacher and headmaster of an independent school (now Chase Collegiate), coupled with his extensive experience fundraising and working in the development office at Taft School, makes him an invaluable member of the board.
A bit of a local celebrity, Charlie Kaoud helps run his family’s large Oriental rug business with locations all over Connecticut. Charlie’s two children, Alex (7) and Grace (9), have attended LMS since they were toddlers. He joined the board over five years ago, and has done a lot of marketing work for the school, including helping the former Head with the creation of television ads and videos.
Tom Pedro is a small business owner who specializes in project management and negotiation. He joined the board in 2015, two years after his daughter Fiona (8) began attending LMS. He and his wife, Eva, live in Oakville, and are very active and engaged parents. They have contributed much to the school in the short time they’ve been members of the LMS community.
Lindsey Rotolo joined the board in 2015. Her daughter, Sadie (7), has attended LMS since she was a toddler. Lindsey is a writer and editor and has served on numerous boards and commissions since moving to Litchfield County in 2004. Before moving to Connecticut, Lindsey worked in real estate management as a property manager in Boston and in Norwich, Vermont. She and her husband, Jon, live in Norfolk.
