Weekly Update Jan. 9 - Jan. 16

January 8th, 2026

To give our children a fine start in life we must see that their surroundings satisfy their need for activity and development, remembering at the same time that our own part is not that of instructor and interferer but of helper.

Friday's:

RED Friday Flag Sticker Stickers and Decals BP-1331

R.E.D. Friday stands for "Remember Everyone Deployed"

You may have noticed some of our faculty wearing red on Fridays - It's not due to our holiday spirit, but to show support for a young member of our community as they experience separation from a deployed parent. We invite you to join us in wearing red on Fridays to show support for and honor U.S. service members currently deployed overseas, as well as veterans.

Occupational Therapy Observations:

This week, we will be welcoming an occupational therapist to campus to spend time observing in each classroom. The purpose of this visit is consultative: the therapist will be observing classroom environments and student engagement to help the school identify observable signs of needed support and to offer guidance that may benefit our overall program.
This visit is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the developmental needs of all children and strengthening our classroom practices. No individual evaluations or diagnoses will take place during this time.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Betsy or Diane.

Mohawk Snowsports Program

Upper Elementary students participate in our Snowsports Program at Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall, CT. Skiing and snowboarding lessons provide the opportunity for students to gain further understanding and control of their fundamental skills and safety etiquette while in a winter alpine environment. Our PE Specialist and PSIA Alpine Level 1 Instructor, Sam Cochrane, will supervise the program along with the support of the students' guide Kate.

Our Snowsports Program include weekly one-hour skiing or snowboarding lessons followed by an opportunity to further practice with our supervisor and chaperones, until 5:15pm.

We invite you to schedule a classroom observation:

This is a wonderful opportunity to see Montessori in action and experience your child’s classroom environment firsthand. Observations are available through March Break.
