Weekly Update Mar. 6 - Mar. 27

March 5th, 2026

The absorption of the environment is an intellectual activity. It is a psychic necessity that the child explores the environment; it satisfies his spirit. After he has had the satisfaction of observing one thing that interests him, he goes on until he is attracted by something else. In this way the child can walk for miles.

Community Circle Event

Join Us for a Virtual Community Circle with The Gift of Failure Author Jessica Lahey

Tuesday, March 31st at 7:00pm

Learn more about how Jessica Lahey's work on fostering independence, resilience, and intrinsic motivation strongly aligns with Montessori principles. This will be a wonderful opportunity for parents to hear directly from her about supporting children as capable, confident learners.

This event will be held virtually, so there’s no need to arrange a sitter; parents and caregivers can join from the comfort of home. A registration link will be sent to families via Remind.

We look forward to sharing more details as the event approaches!

Summer Programming

This summer, Litchfield Montessori School will offer a summer program in Susan’s Young People’s Community classroom only. The program will run for three weeks following the end of the school year on the following dates: June 8–12, June 15–19, June 22–26.

Register for YPC Summer Program

No other LMS summer programs will be offered this year.

For families interested in additional summer opportunities for children, several wonderful programs are available through our community partners. Information about these camps is included below, and flyers are also available in the school office.

Registration forms that are typically completed over the summer are included as part of the spring re-enrollment process.
Financial aid applications:
Families who wish to apply for financial aid will be prompted to do so during the re-enrollment process. (The deadline to complete the financial aid portion of re-enrollment is April 3rd this year.)
