A treasured LMS tradition, each year families donate gloves, mittens, hats, scarves, as well as gently used winter coats to decorate the Giving Tree. Thank you to our alumni family, The Kowalchicks, for donating the tree itself!
Help make our tree festive this year! Before Winter Break, students from the elementary classes will drop off items to be distributed to local families in need.

Notes of Gratitude:
During this holiday season of gratitude, we recognize what we are grateful for on a daily basis.
“Happiness is in many respects a skill that parents can teach their children, and the relationship between gratitude and happiness is really strong.”
Dr. Christine Carter of UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center
Our faculty has a "Gratitude Basket". Please take a moment to express what you are grateful for about LMS to add to our basket. Notes of gratitude are read at monthly faculty meetings throughout the year.
Snow Protocols:
Just a reminder that, when it comes to weather delays and cancelations, Litchfield Montessori School typically follows the Litchfield Public Schools’ decision.
Delay Opening: There is no Early Bird care on those occasions and school begins at 10am, unless the forecast requires an alternative.
Early Dismissal: We will let you know as soon as possible via Remind, so you can make plans to pick up your child(ren).
Make sure you’ve signed up for Remind, as this is how we will notify you in the event of a delay, closing, or early dismissal.
Give to the Annual Fund
Thank you to all who have contributed so far!
The participation of every parent in our annual fund campaign is essential. It shows that, as a community, we value and invest in our children's education. It also encourages outside donors and grant organizations to support us, as they see the strong backing by our own community.
Montessori Moment:
How Montessori Fosters Curiosity and Courage
by Paula Lillard Preschlack
"Encouraging curiosity and courage is one of the most powerful strengths of an authentic Montessori education. By preparing young people to tackle the world’s problems from a place of practiced curiosity, we can feed the next generation with valuable skills. By giving them explicit opportunities to build courageous personalities, Montessori gives the next generation the strength to make this word a better place for all."
