Weekly Update Sept. 6 - 13

September 6th, 2024

It is the ‘valorisation’ of the personality, to become aware of ones own value. Without this, as many psychologists say, the child only feels his own value if he is loved. This is another ‘valorisation’ – he is independent, he is sure of his own actions and knows how to act.

Things to know...

Parent Handbook:

The parent handbook has been updated for the 2024/25 School year.

Please review the Parent Handbook and sign that you have read and agree to it here: ACCEPTANCE

Communication:

Remind is our hub for parent-teacher and parent-parent communication. Please use the classroom lists provided in your classroom remind announcement to coordinate playdates, birthdays, or you may ask individuals for their personal information. The school will not provide personal contact information of our parents.

From the LMS Handbook:

Contacting Faculty & Staff

  •  Communicate with your child’s guide using Remind. Schedule a meeting directly with them as needed. Please give grace for their response to be within office hours, but not in the midst of the moments of a school day when they give their full attention to our children. Classroom preparation is very important for teachers, as is their personal time outside school hours; we do not expect our guides to respond after hours or on weekends and vacations. We ask that you do not walk into your child's classroom to communicate with the teacher unless you have a meeting or observation scheduled. If you have a written communication for a teacher, please give it to the Front Office for delivery. If you have concerns about any aspect of your child’s classroom experience, we urge you to contact your child’s teacher immediately. If the situation is not resolved after a conference with them, please contact Betsy Johnson, Assistant Head of School, or Diane Hart, Head of School.

Montessori Moment:

The single most important parenting strategy

by Dr. Becky Kennedy

Everyone loses their temper from time to time — but the stakes are dizzyingly high when the focus of your fury is your own child. Clinical psychologist and renowned parenting whisperer Becky Kennedy is here to help. Not only does she have practical advice to help parents manage the guilt and shame of their not-so-great moments but she also models the types of conversations you can have to be a better parent. (Hint: this works in all other relationships too.) Bottom line? It's never too late to reconnect.
