Weekly Update March 8 - 15

March 8th, 2024

We tend to think that the realm of music is the privileged area of some happy few. Experience has taught us, however, that if offered the right kind of education from a very early age onwards, anyone is capable of entering the realm of music. Not everyone has the talent to practise music at an artistic level, or create new work, but everyone can reach a stage where they can enjoy it.

More information to come over spring break!

We love the woods, but maybe not everything in them...

Please check your children nightly for ticks.

The start of spring is a great time to remind ourselves that exposure to tick borne illnesses can happen any time of the year, but risk is highest in spring and summer months.  Let's do our part to educate ourselves and our children.

Please find linked, two informative posters to start/continue the conversation with your child. It is important that even a small child knows to tell an adult if they feel any kind of bump/itch or creepy crawly that might be a tick.

*The school has a tick-twister, which is a very effective way of removing the whole tick.

These safe, effective products are also recommended to families concerned with tick exposure:  permethrin and picaridin

Family Vacationing Made Easier

Traveling with Children.

—by Jane M. Jacobs, M.A., Montessori Educational Consultant at Montessori Services.

"You don't have to go far or plan a big, expensive vacation to see great stuff. In fact, some of the greatest places may be right around the corner."  -Joanne O'Sullivan, 101 Places You Gotta See Before You're 12!

Parents often have mixed feelings with the approach of vacation time. It's nice to have a more relaxed routine and a change from the work/school schedule, but it's not always easy to keep children content when traveling. Whether taking day trips or longer excursions to distant locations, planning ahead with your children can ease the stresses and struggles.
