Weekly Update Sept. 5 - 12

September 5th, 2025

If we study the psychology of children aged between three and six, we see that movement, and especially the movement of the hand, plays a most important part in mental development of children in this age group.
Maria Montessori
The 1946 London Lectures, p. 36

Happening this week:

Friday, Sept. 5th:

 Friday Coffee Hour:

Join us after drop-off every Friday morning!
Our faculty guest today will be Susan Patrick, Young People's Community Guide.

Next week's faculty guest will be Grail Kearney, Lower Elementary Guide.

POTLUCK (afterschool)

Due to the playground construction, we've decided to limit our annual event to the potluck portion only, moving the time up to 3:30pm through 4:30pm.

Come gather with families as we celebrate the beginning of a new school year!

As soon as the playground is installed, we will again continue our monthly routine of gathering for Friday playdates (and game nights).

Remember to bring a dish to share.  You can drop off your dish in the morning or bring it with you at pickup that afternoon.

If weather isn't great, we'll keep the food inside.

All ages are welcome.

Monday, Sept. 8th:

Welcome to the first FULL week of school!

Pizza Day begins - Help support the 6th year class trip as your child enjoys a slice of pizza for lunch!

Things to know...

October 2025

Photo Days are coming!

Tuesday Oct. 7th: YPC & Lower Elementary
Wed. Oct 8th: Children's House & Upper Elementary

Family Handbook:

The parent handbook was updated for the 2025/26 School year and has been renamed the Family Handbook. We felt this was a more appropriate title.

Please review the FAMILY HANDBOOK

Communication:

Remind is our hub for parent-teacher and parent-parent communication. Please use the classroom lists provided in your classroom remind announcement to coordinate playdates, birthdays, or you may ask individuals for their personal information. The school will not provide personal contact information of our parents.

From the LMS Handbook:

Contacting Faculty & Staff

  •  Communicate with your child’s guide using Remind. Schedule a meeting directly with them as needed. Please give grace for their response to be within office hours, but not in the midst of the moments of a school day when they give their full attention to our children. Classroom preparation is very important for teachers, as is their personal time outside school hours; we do not expect our guides to respond after hours or on weekends and vacations. We ask that you do not walk into your child's classroom to communicate with the teacher unless you have a meeting or observation scheduled. If you have a written communication for a teacher, please give it to the Front Office for delivery. If you have concerns about any aspect of your child’s classroom experience, we urge you to contact your child’s teacher immediately. If the situation is not resolved after a conference with them, please contact Betsy Johnson, Assistant Head of School, or Diane Hart, Head of School.
