Litchfield Montessori School is seeking applications for a Part-time Assistant Teacher in our Young People's Community toddler classroom. Assistant Teachers have a critical role in the culture and success of our school. The core responsibilities of this position lie in the work with the children and the LMS team. The Assistant will supervise children, reinforce guidelines as laid down by the classroom teacher, protect the teacher’s concentration when giving lessons, support the physical and emotional growth of the children, as well as help to maintain a clean and organized learning environment. This position also includes time monitoring the safety of children in our outdoor environments during morning and afternoon play periods.

Each assistant has a crucial role in responding to the needs of the school, including, but not limited to, Communications (maintaining excellent relationships with parents and other LMS staff), Marketing (being an advocate, recruitment, retention, promoting the school in the external community), and Development (fundraising, cultivation of friends and supporters of LMS). Each Assistant has a duty to demonstrate evidence of professional standards of personal presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretion and represent LMS as guided by school policy and culture.

Hours/Rate/Benefits:
This is a part-time, hourly position, Mondays through Fridays 8:15am-1:15am
Pay scale is $16-$23 per hour.
 

Qualifications include:

H.S. degree required. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees, volunteers, and parents.

Prior knowledge of Montessori and experience working with young children is preferred.
